Sanitary Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sanitary Engineer to join our team at Greene County, OH.
About the Job
Under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining central recycling and yard waste drop-off sites, performing various tasks to promote a good public image and maintain facility systems in optimal operating condition.
Responsibilities
- Provides customer service through guidance, instructions, and information to customers regarding facility operation, and policies administered by the Environmental Services Division.
- Assists physically impaired customers to properly process materials.
- Identifies materials including solid waste, recycling, yard waste, universal waste, hazardous waste, and construction and demolition debris.
- Provides technical assistance to customers to manage materials through various resources.
- Maintains a professional manner when interacting with internal and external customers.
- Complies with workplace health and safety standards, wears required personal protective equipment, and promptly reports unsafe conditions.
- Performs operations at the facility to process recyclables, yard waste, household hazardous waste, universal waste, scrap metal, paint, records, and other materials.
- Operates records management and baling equipment, County vehicles, and pulls and backs trailers.
- Performs safety checks and routine maintenance on equipment used for this operation.
- Monitors and cleans vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains the recycling and yard waste drop-off facility in optimal operating conditions.
- Opens, closes, and secures the facility, removes litter, performs landscaping, and snow removal.
- Maintains records and documents all processes.
- Acts as a liaison with other facilities, public and private partners to meet community, operational, and logistic needs for the division and department.
- Provides assistance and equipment for community events and festivals.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.); valid Ohio Driver's License.
- Forklift certification; must attend the first available class offered by Greene County after hire.
Physical Requirements
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.
Working Conditions
The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils, and may be exposed to infectious diseases.
