Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Lead Barn Hand to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and farming, with the ability to perform various tasks related to the maintenance of the barn and the well-being of the animals. This role is essential in ensuring that our operations run smoothly and that our animals are healthy and well-cared for.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring their health.
- Maintain cleanliness in the barn and surrounding areas by mucking stalls and disposing of waste.
- Assist in the handling and movement of animals as needed.
- Operate hand tools and equipment safely for various tasks around the barn.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks, including moving feed, bedding, and other supplies.
- Support farm operations by performing general maintenance tasks as needed.
- Able to train new employees and help lead a team.
Skills
- Experience with animal handling and care is required, especially horses.
- Familiarity with equine management is required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) regularly throughout the day.
- Proficiency in using hand tools for maintenance and repairs.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks as required.
