REACH Academy is a special education school for day and residential students with complex clinical needs. The academy offers traditional studies, community-based instruction, life and vocational classes, and a transition program. REACH Academy also has a program for students with significant cognitive and communication delays, the CARE Academy. This self-contained therapeutic environment provides tailored instruction to meet the unique needs of each student. The program utilizes a combination of academic and pre-vocational skills, as well as assisted daily living skills.
Students in the CARE Academy receive physical education daily, music and art every other day, and life skills, including regularly available community based experiences.
In the CARE Academy, teacher aides are also certified as Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). RBTs are responsible for helping the school's therapeutic team, teachers, and administrators evaluate the behavioral health of students. Their duties include following behavioral health plans developed by the District Behavior Analyst that are implemented in the educational environment and drafting reports to communicate their progress to the school's therapeutic team, teachers, and administrators.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities
- Data collection and progress monitoring of students
- Provide support to students with behavior management and social-emotional development
- Assist with classroom management and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to create and implement individualized education plans for students with special needs
- Support students in their academic growth by providing one-on-one or small group instruction
- Assist with daily routines, including mealtime and bathroom breaks
- Help maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
Qualifications:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Passion for working with children and helping them learn and grow
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students on an individual level
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic classroom environment
- Flexible to work with every student in the class
*Teacher aides regularly assigned to the CARE Academy will be provided with RBT training during the work time. Teacher aides who complete, pass the certification and implement such training when needed will be provided with a $2,000 stipend per annum.
*Mandatory work hours
This job requires you to work 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. We do not offer partial weeks or hours.
Monday to Wednesday and Friday 8am to 2:45pm, Thursday 8am to 3:30pm
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.40 - $25.99 per hour
