Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to assess patient health status
- Assist with medical imaging procedures like X-rays while maintaining strict infection control protocols
- Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
- Review and update medical records accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems using HIPAA-compliant documentation practices
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
- Conduct patient assessments to identify oral health issues and collaborate with dentists for treatment planning
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in the state
- Proficiency in dental software such as Dentrix Ascend for scheduling, documentation, and record management
- Experience with pediatric dentistry and working with pediatric patients preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to perform dental assisting tasks including chairside support and patient care in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and data security
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or general dentistry setting is highly desirable
