Education Coordinator Position Description
The Education Coordinator will work closely with the Education Director and Education Managers on all aspects of the design and implementation of the after school programming, school visits to April Hill, and summer education programs. This position will work mostly in Pittsfield and the surrounding area, but will support both North and South County programming as needed. This is a hybrid position. The position is approximately 20 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-5:30pm, plus an additional 12 hours to be discussed with the Education Director.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with the Education Team to assist with the implementation of curriculum for afterschool programs and school visits to April Hill Monday through Thursday.
- Work with the Education Team to implement dynamic daytime programming and for occasional overnight school camp visits to April Hill.
- In partnership with the Education Team, design and implement a full-time 5-week summer program for middle school students.
Required Skills:
- Must enjoy working with youth ages 11-21.
- 1-2 years experience working with youth.
- Excitement to work with middle and high school students outdoors in most weather conditions.
- Time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- The ability to assist with physical and hands-on activities which include but are not limited to field trips to local organizations aligned with our mission, gardening, hiking, eco-system explorations, building small woodworking projects, and cooking.
- The ability to assist in transporting lesson supplies to and from activities.
- A commitment to be available for occasional extended day activities, typically in the spring.
- Clean driving record and the ability to drive a 12-15 passenger van (must be over 21 years of age).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of Google Applications including Docs and Email
- Professional and friendly interpersonal communication skills
- Spanish fluency a plus
- Hold or be willing to obtain lifeguard certification
- Alignment with the Greenagers mission
Hours:
This schedule is typically 20 hours per week with primary requirements Monday - Thursday between the hours of 2:30pm-5:30pm, plus an additional 12 hours to be discussed with the Education Director.
