Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Technician / Caregiver to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide essential medication management and personalized care to residents across various care settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, and home care environments. Responsibilities
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols, including oral, topical, injectable, and tube feeding medications while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
- Assist residents with daily activities including mobility support, personal hygiene, catheter care, and other activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Support patients with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's or dementia care by implementing memory care techniques and maintaining a safe environment.
- Document all patient interactions meticulously in medical records using systems like Epic or Cerner; ensure compliance with medical terminology standards and HIPAA privacy rules.
- Recognize signs of medical emergencies or changes in condition; communicate effectively with nursing staff or emergency responders when necessary.
- Provide compassionate home care or community-based support for individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, hospice or memory care units is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and nursing practices related to medication administration and patient care.
- Experience using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for medical documentation and record keeping.
- Background in caregiving roles involving home health or community-based services for seniors or individuals with disabilities.
- Familiarity with acute care procedures including vital signs monitoring, catheter care, tube feeding management, and hospice support is advantageous.
