Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Aide to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist in the safe and accurate administration of medications to residents in assisted living. Duties
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and facility protocols, including oral, topical, and injectable medications.
- Observe and document residents’ responses to medications, vital signs, and overall health status using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as QuickMar.
- Assist with resident personal care activities, including hygiene, mobility, and daily living tasks, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and state healthcare laws.
- Monitor residents for adverse reactions or side effects related to medications or treatments such as tube feeding or catheter care.
- Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s care by implementing memory care strategies and ensuring a safe environment.
- Follow all safety protocols during manual handling, heavy lifting, and emergency procedures like first aid or CPR when necessary.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with geriatric patients in assisted living, nursing home, hospital, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care best practices is essential.
- Certification as a Medication Aide
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is advantageous.
- Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical documentation standards is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks involved in resident care.
- Strong communication skills for caregiver communication and resident interaction; compassionate caregiving attitude is essential.
