Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Aide to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist in the safe and accurate administration of medications to residents in assisted living. Our expertise will support residents’ health, comfort, and well-being while ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring medication management and personal care assistance.

Duties

  • Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and facility protocols, including oral, topical, and injectable medications.
  • Observe and document residents’ responses to medications, vital signs, and overall health status using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as QuickMar.
  • Assist with resident personal care activities, including hygiene, mobility, and daily living tasks, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  • Maintain detailed medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and state healthcare laws.
  • Monitor residents for adverse reactions or side effects related to medications or treatments such as tube feeding or catheter care.
  • Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s care by implementing memory care strategies and ensuring a safe environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols during manual handling, heavy lifting, and emergency procedures like first aid or CPR when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with geriatric patients in assisted living, nursing home, hospital, or home care environments is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care best practices is essential.
  • Certification as a Medication Aide
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical documentation standards is a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks involved in resident care.
  • Strong communication skills for caregiver communication and resident interaction; compassionate caregiving attitude is essential.
