As we prepare to open our first location in Boulder, we’re looking for a responsible, team-oriented Lead Budtender who wants to help build a culture and brand from the ground up—and grow with us into a long-term leadership role. This is a rare opportunity to join early, contribute to the foundation of the business, and transition into full management within the first six months. Position Overview: The Lead Budtender acts as a senior-level sales professional, cultural leader, and support to ownership during the early phase of store launch. This role is intentionally structured to transition into a full management position within approximately six (6) months, based on performance and store growth. Candidates with prior dispensary management experience will be strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities: Customer Experience & Sales: * Provide welcoming, knowledgeable, and compliant customer service to Boulder locals and visitors. * Guide customers with expertise in products, strains, terpenes, dosing, and effects. * Maintain a strong understanding of Colorado cannabis laws and Boulder-specific municipal requirements. Operational Leadership: * Serve as the shift lead and ensure smooth daily operations. * Support and mentor budtenders; model consistency, teamwork, and professionalism. * Perform and oversee opening/closing procedures, including cash handling. * Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant retail environment. Inventory & Compliance: * Assist with product intake, labeling, packaging, and compliance checks. * Support METRC tracking and inventory accuracy. * Identify discrepancies and communicate issues promptly. POS & Technology: * Operate Cova POS efficiently (experience preferred). * Assist in training team members on POS and store tech systems. Transition Into Management (~6 Months) Once trained and the store gains momentum, responsibilities may expand to include: * Staff scheduling and performance evaluations * Training new hires and maintaining a strong team culture * Vendor communication, ordering, and restocking * Monitoring key performance metrics and sales targets * Helping refine store systems, processes, and Boulder-specific retail strategy Qualifications: Required * 1–2 years budtending experience in a licensed dispensary. * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others. * Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy work ethic. * Strong product and compliance knowledge. * Valid MED badge. * Professional references are required (minimum of two). Preferred * Previous dispensary management or leadership experience (shift lead, keyholder, ASM, GM). * Experience using Cova POS. * Knowledge of the Boulder cannabis market, customer base, consumer trends, and competitive environment. * Experience in Boulder cannabis retail is a major plus.
