Position Summary
Greenleaf Environmental Services is seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of commercial vehicles and equipment, including roll-off trucks, front-load trucks, compactors, and related solid waste equipment. This role is critical to ensuring fleet safety, reliability, and minimal downtime to support daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative service on all company assets
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Inspect vehicles for safety, compliance, and operational readiness
- Troubleshoot engine issues, braking systems, transmissions, suspensions, and steering
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Conduct DOT inspections and ensure fleet compliance with state and federal regulations
- Respond to breakdowns or emergency repairs as needed
- Communicate repair needs and timelines with operations and dispatch teams
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2–5 years experience as a diesel mechanic (waste industry experience preferred)
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Valid driver's license required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work in various weather conditions
- Ability to work around heavy machinery safely
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- Occasional evenings or weekends as needed for emergency repairs
