Merchandise & Donation Processing Associate
Status: Full-Time — Approximately 34–38 hours per week
Position Overview
Green Scene Thrift is looking for a dependable, hardworking team member to help turn the donations we receive into merchandise our customers are excited to find.
The primary focus of this position is processing and merchandising donations. Most of your time will be spent sorting, evaluating, pricing, organizing, and preparing donated items for the sales floor. You will work across a variety of departments and help keep merchandise moving from the donation area to the sales floor.
This is an active, hands-on position that involves standing, walking, lifting, sorting, and working at a steady pace. It is a good fit for someone who enjoys staying busy, working with a variety of merchandise, and seeing the results of their work on the sales floor.
What You'll Do: Donation Processing & Merchandising — The Main Focus
- Sort and process incoming donations efficiently and carefully
- Evaluate donated items based on condition, quality, usefulness, and store guidelines
- Determine the appropriate department and destination for merchandise
- Price merchandise appropriately based on store guidelines, condition, quality, and inventory
- Tag and prepare merchandise for the sales floor
- Stock and replenish merchandise throughout the store
- Organize and maintain assigned departments
- Create attractive, organized displays that make merchandise easy and enjoyable to shop
- Identify items that may be better suited for another department or sales channel
- Keep the donation and processing areas organized and moving efficiently
- Work through donations at a steady pace while maintaining attention to detail
Customer Service & General Store Support
While donation processing and merchandising are the primary responsibilities, everyone on our team contributes to the overall operation of the store. This may include:
- Providing friendly, helpful service to customers and donors
- Assisting customers with questions or locating merchandise
- Helping maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store
- Assisting with basic housekeeping and general store tasks
- Moving and organizing merchandise, donations, boxes, and other materials as needed
- Helping other departments or coworkers when store needs change
- Following store procedures and helping maintain a safe work environment
What This Job Is Like
If you enjoy sorting, organizing, finding great items, and staying busy, you may enjoy this position.
A typical shift will involve spending a significant portion of your time working with donations — sorting through items, making decisions about what can be sold, pricing merchandise, and getting it ready for customers.
The work can be repetitive at times, and donation volume can vary from day to day. We need someone who can maintain a steady pace, stay productive, and continue working through a task without needing constant direction.
You will also work in different departments and may switch between tasks throughout the day depending on what the store needs.
This is primarily a donation-processing and merchandising position. It is not a traditional office, sales, or supervisory position.

- Dependable and punctual
- Comfortable staying busy throughout their shift
- Able to work independently and manage their time
- Comfortable performing repetitive tasks
- Able to work at a steady and efficient pace
- Detail-oriented when sorting and pricing merchandise
- Comfortable making decisions about merchandise
- Willing to learn the characteristics and pricing of a wide variety of items
- Flexible and willing to work in different departments
- A team player who is willing to jump in where needed
- Friendly and helpful with customers, donors, and coworkers
- Someone who takes pride in keeping their work area and merchandise organized

- Previous retail, thrift, merchandising, or customer service experience is helpful but not required
- Experience with computers and gaming systems is helpful
- Ability to learn and follow store processing and pricing guidelines
