Position Summary
The Part Time Hourly Cashier is a position that performs detailed fiscal work under general supervision of the Interim SF & AR Assistant Manager. This position must demonstrate strong customer service skills, cash handling experience, and be on time on scheduled shift; can work both independently and as a member of a team; use guidelines and exercise independent judgement in the performance of assigned tasks such as receiving and disbursing funds, processing receipts, reviewing and balancing cashiering transactions, account adjustments, manage holds and blocks on student accounts, and balancing daily register.

Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical students, 15% Adult Basic Education student, and 3% Applied bachelor's degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, Washington, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Position Responsibilities
- Provide quality customer service. Assist students and other customers by answering inquires both in person and on the phone, providing information and guidance as necessary.
- Initiate processing of cashiering transactions; receive and process cash, check, and/or credit/debit card payments for a variety of charges.
- Provided fiscal support to the college by using the college’s automated system to record accounts receivable information into the accounting system.
- Apply payments received for college programs to the appropriate accounts and process refunds for the programs as required.
- Exercise independent judgement in interpreting and applying rules and regulations.
- Review and maintain fiscal reports for accuracy; investigate and correct errors.
- Manage holds and blocks on student accounts.
- Executes other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three years of relevant accounting experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Demonstrated successful experience working accurately with numbers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in accounting or related field
- Washington state community college experience
- Experience with Washington state college Ctclink/PeopleSoft financial system.
Supplemental Information
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must have the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time at a desk/computer or cashier workstation.
- Frequent use of computer and explore to terminal screen in performing work assignments.
- Work in semi-open office setting with frequent interruptions by phone or public.
- Be available for non-scheduled after hours.
- Occasionally lift to 25 pounds.
- 20-hours per week, Monday to Friday.
