HVAC Manager – HVAC (Heat Pump Systems)
Location: San Rafael, CA (Onsite & Field-Based)
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on HVAC Manager C-20 to lead the installation and execution of residential HVAC projects focused on all-electric heat pump systems. This role is ideal for a field-driven leader who thrives in both planning and execution owning projects from site evaluation through installation completion.
This position is based in San Rafael, CA and requires daily presence in the office and/or active job sites. This is a well-established, leading solar, electrical and energy services contractor operating in the North Bay for over 40 years serving Napa, Marin, and Sonoma counties.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Leadership & Execution
- Serve as the primary field leader responsible for evaluating residential project sites and determining installation feasibility
- Develop detailed construction plans, scopes of work, and project timelines
- Oversee full-cycle installation of HVAC systems, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to high-quality standards
- Manage, mentor, and support installation technicians in the field
Project Planning & Documentation
- Create clear, organized documentation for each project including system design, materials, and installation approach
- Coordinate closely with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution from planning through completion
- Maintain strong communication across stakeholders, ensuring alignment on timelines and deliverables
HVAC System Expertise (All-Electric Focus)
- Lead installations of:
- Central ducted heat pump systems for whole-home comfort
- Ductless mini-split systems for zoned heating and cooling
- Ensure systems are designed and installed to maximize energy efficiency, comfort, and long-term performance
- Support the transition from traditional gas systems to all-electric heat pump solutions, which provide both heating and cooling in a single system
Quality, Performance & Customer Experience
- Ensure installations meet high standards for craftsmanship, performance, and customer satisfaction
- Troubleshoot field challenges and provide solutions in real time
- Uphold safety protocols and best practices across all job sites
Required Qualifications
- Active C-20 HVAC Contractor License (Required)
- Proven experience leading HVAC or construction projects in a field-based environment
- Strong knowledge of:
- Heat pump systems (ducted and ductless)
- Residential HVAC installations
- Demonstrated ability to manage technicians and drive project execution
- Excellent communication skills across verbal, written, and digital formats
- Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail
Preferred Experience
- Experience with high-efficiency, all-electric HVAC systems and electrification initiatives
- Familiarity with integrating HVAC systems with solar and battery solutions
- Background working in residential retrofit or energy efficiency projects

Compensation
Base Salary plus significant performance bonus and full benefits..
Pay: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
