Assistant Plant Operator

Job Overview: The assistant plant operator is responsible for helping the plant operator in all aspects of the corncob processing plant operation during their shift. Their objective is to support the plant operator to ensure maximum output of in-spec product. They perform product quality checks, act as a "second set of eyes" to monitor the production lines and assist the plant operator during maintenance events.

Reports to: Plant Manager on duty

Work-shift:

Nights: 6pm – 6am, 4 days on followed by 4 days off, rotating schedule

Job Requirements:

1.) Operates with a "Safety First" attitude and approach

2.) Perform regular quality checks as required by QA framework

a. Bulk density

b. Particle size distribution (Ro-tap)

c. Moisture

3.) Routinely walk the production floor and outside looking for product plugs, leaks, pressure build ups and other anomalies to report to Plant Operator

4.) Help Plant Operator with maintenance tasks

5.) Assist Toter with product packaging as necessary

6.) Help with housekeeping to maintain a clean work environment

7.) Communication skills: written; verbal; and listening to clearly understand what needs to be done during the shift, describe what occurred during the shift and explain plant issues that need to be addressed

8.) Learn to Safely Operate

a. Forklift

b. Skid Steer

c. Aerial Lift

9.) Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Plant Manager

10.) Valid driver's license

Essential Functions:

1.) Ability to stoop, bend, reach overhead, extend upper body and climb stairs/ladders

2.) Able to safely climb up and down trailer ladders and end loader

3.) Climb up and down a 6-step warehouse ladder (potentially up to 60 times/shift)

4.) Safely mount and dismount a forklift (potentially up to 100 times/shift)

5.) Lift up to 100 pounds (not repetitive)

6.) Work in harsh conditions (blowing particulate matter and in outdoor temperatures)

7.) Comprehend written and oral instructions, policies and procedures

8.) Basic writing ability

9.) Perform basic arithmetic functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide using a calculator)

10.) Operate equipment using both hands and both feet

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
