Cashier

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and personable Cashier to join our retail team. The Cashier will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while efficiently processing retail sales transactions. This role involves operating POS (Point of Sale) systems, managing cash register operations, and ensuring accurate handling of cash, credit, and debit payments. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, retail product knowledge, and a commitment to creating a welcoming shopping environment. Bilingual abilities and prior grocery store experience are considered valuable assets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate POS systems to process sales accurately and efficiently
• Handle cash register operations, including cash drawer management and balancing
• Assist customers with product inquiries and provide product demonstrations when appropriate
• Upsell additional products or services to enhance customer experience and sales
• Maintain stock levels on the sales floor and assist with merchandising efforts
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions and resolving issues promptly
• Follow proper phone etiquette when assisting customers over the phone or in person
• Conduct retail sales transactions with accuracy, ensuring proper cash handling procedures
• Support inventory management through stocking and product placement
• Engage in product knowledge sharing to educate customers about store offerings

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in retail sales or cashier roles, preferably within grocery or specialty stores
• Proficiency with POS systems and cash register operations
• Strong basic math skills for handling transactions and balancing cash drawers
• Excellent communication skills, including bilingual abilities (if applicable)
• Demonstrated customer service orientation with a friendly demeanor
• Experience in upselling, merchandising, and product demos is advantageous
• Knowledge of retail store product lines and inventory management practices
• Supervising experience is a plus for leadership opportunities within the team
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $8.50 - $9.50 per hour
