What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Community Driver - Franklin County position at Green Mountain Transit?
Transportation is essential for all of our lives. Mobility is essential, and there is more demand than ever to help Vermonters get to medical appointments and fulfill other critical necessities such as access to food and other services in a cost-effective manner. The answer? You and your vehicle. Become a Volunteer Community Driver with GMT and be a force for positive change in the lives of your neighbors.
In addition to the satisfaction you’ll get for giving back to your community, you will receive reimbursement at the current IRS rate ($0.70/mile) which does not count as income and will not impact any eligibility for benefits you might receive (Social Security, etc.).
How it works:
Most trips are centered on medical needs, providing access to appointments like dialysis, radiation treatment, physical therapy, and more. You may also provide rides to senior centers, affordable food locations, counseling, prevention treatment, or various human services programs. While most appointments are local, others can be as far as Dartmouth or Boston. You set your schedule and determine the range of transportation service you can provide. Any and all contributions of your time are accepted with deep gratitude from GMT and from the people we serve.
