Position Overview
Green Light Driving School is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Behind-the-Wheel Driving Instructor to work directly with students during in-car lessons. This role is responsible for teaching real-world driving skills, building student confidence, and ensuring every lesson is conducted safely and professionally.
Instructors are expected to take full ownership of their schedule and students. Reliability, clear communication, and strong judgment are essential.
Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one driving lessons with teen students at varying skill levels
- Pick up and drop off students at their homes in company vehicles
- Teach safe driving techniques, traffic laws, and defensive driving strategies
- Provide clear, direct instruction and real-time coaching during drives
- Identify unsafe behaviors and correct them immediately
- Adjust lessons based on each student’s progress and comfort level
- Maintain accurate lesson notes and progress records
- Ensure all lessons are conducted safely and in compliance with Illinois driving laws
- Keep vehicles clean, fueled, and in good working condition
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and staff
Requirements
- Strong reliability and punctuality
- Clean driving record and responsible driving history
- Ability to remain calm, alert, and in control in all driving situations
- Clear communication skills and ability to give direct instruction
- Good judgment and awareness of surroundings at all times
- Professional, patient, and safety-focused mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching, coaching, or training experience
- Experience working with teens or young adults
