SUMMARY:
Under supervisionof the Jail Administrator,provides a wide variety of servicesto the courtsand Government Centeron behalf of the Sheriff to include providing security in courtrooms, hallways, meeting rooms and public areas adjacent to the courts, working a schedule in accordance with the needs of the Sheriffs Office.Thisis anat willposition and members are appointed to and serve in the unit at the discretion of the Sheriff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:(ILLUSTRATIVE AND NOT INCLUSIVE)
- Assistsin the screening of all persons and property entering thenorth wing of the Government Centerof the facility;operatesequipment necessary tomaintainfacility security.
- Responds to incidents throughout theGovernment Center, securing areas or individuals.
- Transports in-custody subjects to and from theGreen Lake County Correctional Facilityand to and from other secure facilities for medical treatment and/or court.
- Monitors the safety,securityand welfare of inmates during transports.
- May serve civil process warrants, executewritsand enforce orders of the court; monitors and ensures compliance with all statutes and ordinances as they apply to the facility, court visitors and assigned employees.
- Provides security in the courtrooms asrequired; responsible for ensuring proper decorum in the courtrooms and the establishment of good order and security of employees and the public.
- Coordinates court Bailiff duties in cooperation with theCorrectional Facilitystaff and courts when needed.
- Conducts visual and/or physical inspections of suspicious individuals.
- Ability to act confidentially, performing assignments with accuracy, patience, tact, integrity, use of good discretion and courtesy; ability to exercise good judgment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Considerable knowledge of civil and criminal lawrequired.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in critical situations whilemaintainingsafe standards; knowledge of planning, courtroomsupervision, aswell as court procedures and directives.
- Knowledge of civil and criminal law.
- Ability to meet department standards of physical condition.
- Skill in the use of a Police vehicle,firearms,bullet resistant vest, handcuffs, police radio, siren, emergency lights, OC spray, fire extinguisher, office equipment, computer and software, telephone, cell phone, cuff belt, ankle restraints, recording devices, flash light, spot light, first aid kit, bio-hazard kit, MDC,TIME System and all other software programs used by the Sheriffs Office,Taser, AED and CPR mask, people and package scanners and metal detectorsand may be issued additional equipment based on qualifications and assignments. May berequiredto carry and answer an assigned cell phone and be subject to call out.May carry approved firearms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:High school diploma or equivalent with 60 post high school credits required.
EXPERIENCE / JOB KNOWLEDGE:Civil or military law enforcement work or any equivalent combination of education or experience that provides the necessary knowledge,skillsand abilities.
At the time of hire, requirements include Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Basic Police (LESB) Certification with arrest powers.Must qualify annually or as required by LESB Unified Tactical Concepts. Mustpossessand maintain a valid Wisconsin drivers license.Visual acuity must be correctable to 20/20.Must obtain CPR and AED certification within one year of hire.Must meet all state and county mandated certification requirements for Deputy Sheriff.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:About 90% of the time is spent walking, standing, sitting, talking, hearing, using near and far vision and low to medium fingering. Kneeling, stooping, crouching, grappling, crawling, running, climbing, balancing, bending, jumping,reachingand feeling are done about 10% of the time. Other actions may berequiredin unusual or non-regular situations.The Department reserves the right to assess the medical and physical fitness of each employees ability to fully perform the expected duties of the position.
