Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Resident Specialist to provide exceptional support and care to residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in geriatrics, dementia, and memory care, with a passion for enhancing residents' quality of life through personalized assistance. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with varying needs, including those with developmental disabilities and cognitive impairments. All positions are paid roles, emphasizing the importance of professional caregiving.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to ensure residents' health status is maintained.
- Support residents with medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper handling and documentation.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care strategies.
- Engage residents in social activities and therapeutic programs to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Maintain a safe environment by practicing proper manual handling techniques and adhering to safe patient lifting practices.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and assisting with meal preparation to ensure a hygienic living space.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care and address concerns promptly.
- Respond swiftly to emergencies by providing first aid or CPR when necessary, following established protocols.
- Support residents’ behavioral management needs through patience, understanding, and appropriate intervention strategies.
Requirements
- A positive attitude with prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or residential care homes is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of dementia care, memory care, and working with individuals with cognitive disabilities.
- Certification as a CNA or equivalent healthcare training is preferred; however, relevant caregiving experience will be considered.
- Familiarity with vital signs measurement, medication administration, and first aid/CPR certification is required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while maintaining resident dignity.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in home & community care settings is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse populations - MUST BE A TEAM PLAYER.
