Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Instructional Coach (IC) will provide instructional support and coaching to teachers as they work to ensure that each student is able to reach his or her academic potential. The IC's primary role is to work with teachers to support and model evidence based best practices in using data, provide evidence based analysis of school-wide trends in instruction, and make recommendations about potential next steps to address areas of need.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- As an advisor to teachers and the leadership team, the IC is responsible for four main areas:
- a) observing instructional delivery and providing feedback and modeling evidence based best practices to enhance and support the development of each teacher's content area,
- b) supporting teachers in the design of units and lessons for the development of their year-long curriculum,
- c) analyzing data in order to modify curriculum and forms of assessment to meet students' needs, and
- d) working with the academic staff (grade-level chairs, assistant principals, principals) in the school to support growth and development of teachers and students.
- Works with the AP of Instruction on the implementation of school-wide assessments; works collaboratively with campus-based leaders to make instructional decisions based on student performance.
- Cultivates a standards-based, data and results-oriented culture by implementing the assigned organizational framework for instruction.
- Utilize organizational approved coaching and framework and provides specific strategies for improved instructional delivery
- Works with teachers and school leadership teams to create and improve aligned curriculum resources.
- Collaborates with teachers in determining appropriate resources and support for teachers.
- Supports teachers by providing feedback on lessons and assessments that align with school, and college-readiness standards, and serves as an expert in national trends/best practices in curriculum development and instructional strategy for historically underachieving students.
- As a leader on the academic team, makes recommendations on best practices for supporting curriculum alignment across all grade levels within the specified content area for all grade levels.
- Serves as an instructional coach by providing expert advice on improving and enhancing individual lessons and units based on ongoing analysis. This will include, but is not limited to:
- Reviewing lesson plans, unit plans, and assessments
- Submit weekly IP plans, assessment data tracking
- Understanding scope and sequence models
- Observing classroom instruction and offering comprehensive analysis and feedback
- Providing instructional strategy best practice training, as needed
- Supporting the implementation of curriculum, using the organizational design model and advising scope and sequence based on essential content knowledge that addresses local, state, and national standards.
- Attends/Leads coaching meetings and professional development training, and attends network leader training
- Other duties as assigned, including covering ancillary duties or subbing for classroom instruction

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
- Active teacher certification required
- 3 years of highly effective teaching experience as evidenced by student data
- Proficient in managing a team, coaching, and designing curriculum.
- Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
