Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise dental assisting staff, providing training, mentorship, and performance feedback to ensure high standards of patient care and clinic efficiency
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and maintained according to infection control protocols
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and other specialty treatments
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical histories, taking vital signs, and ensuring accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety standards
- Maintain comprehensive medical documentation and records, including medical coding and ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy policies
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with dental receptionists and managing patient communications effectively
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with expertise in chairside assisting across various specialties including general dentistry, pediatrics, prosthodontics, and endodontics
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, aseptic technique, and medical terminology
- Proficiency with Dentrix
- CEREC experience would be a plus
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and accurately
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and data security
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and documentation
- Leadership qualities with the ability to train staff on four-handed dentistry techniques and maintain high standards of infection control
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry procedures is preferred; experience working in a busy dental clinic environment is essential
