SUMMARY

The Application Specialist is responsible for application management for Green County. The position focuses on working with a wide variety of software applications, with the primary responsibility of supporting clinical departments’ applications and devices (computers, tablets, etc.).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENSTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following:

  • Understand and optimize current workflows for end users.
  • Maintain applications, including databases, interfaces, and workflows.
  • Validate workflows and perform system updates as necessary.
  • Write and maintain queries and reports to support operations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of daily work completion.
  • Provide fluid communication to vendors and end-users.
  • Provider end-user training and support.
  • Create and maintain a running log of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Follow best practice guidelines provided by software vendors.
  • Adapt to new issues and roles as they arise.
  • Maintain and utilize ticketing systems for IT related issues, tasks, and milestones.
  • Perform other related functions and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • An Associate’s Degree in Informational Technology related field and two or more years’ experience in an application support related position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding and troubleshooting skills related to the following:

Windows Operating Systems
Software/Applications
Microsoft 365 systems
Cloud Products
Sql/Databases
Microsoft Services
Active Directory
Google Workspace
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Driver’s License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other county employees, elected officials, department heads, service providers, vendors, other IT professionals, and the public.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general instructions, including technical manuals, and technology related information. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, emails, and procedure instructions.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, groups, and committees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to perform basic to complex math functions, including; common fractions, and decimals, compute rate, ratio, and percent, interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations, and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 50 pounds. This position requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and recognize and identify similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes and sounds associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, and spend extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Pay: $29.63 - $33.54 per hour
