Minimum Requirements
NYS Teaching Certification in Special Education
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with students with disabilities required; experience working with students with autism/behavioral disabilities preferred
- Working knowledge of conflict resolution required
- Must be a proactive team player and problem solver
- Able to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to effectively use technology
- Plan and deliver specially designed instruction to students with disabilities
- Implement and progress-monitor student Individualization Education Programs (IEP)
- Collaborate with related service providers on a regular basis to share student progress and address concerns
- Communicate with families on a regular basis to share student progress and address concerns
- Develop students' IEPs and participate in Committee for Special Education meetings
- Collect and analyze student data for purposes of instructional planning and progress reporting via IEP progress notes and report card
- Administer formative and summative assessments for purposes of instructional planning and progress monitoring
- Provide direction and guidance to support staff working in the classroom
- Participate in staff meetings and professional learning communities as well as engage in professional learning opportunities
