Daily Hours: 7
Work Year: 2026-2027
Supervisor: Principal
Minimum Requirements
NYS Certification in Reading
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated commitment to district values and vision.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Dedication to ongoing professional learning in Adolescent Literacy and the Science of Reading.
Knowledge of the Science of Reading research, NYS Science of Reading Briefs, and interventions such as Orton-Gillingham, specifically for struggling adolescent readers.
Experience working with middle or high school students.
Position Summary/Responsibilities
Instruction: Design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons grounded in evidence-based literacy practices.
Environment: Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom where students are challenged and supported.
Assessment: Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and implement targeted, evidence-based interventions.
Collaboration & Communication: Partner effectively with families, staff, and administration; maintain accurate progress reports (including RTIM/Frontline).
Leadership: Support colleagues' understanding of reading and writing across the content areas.
Professional Engagement: Actively participate in department and PLC meetings.
All teachers who are new to Greece will be required to attend two teacher induction days in August.
Additionally, all teachers will be required to work one teacher day in August per school calendar.
