What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatic Coordinator position at Greater Waterbury YMCA?
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age
· Hold a college degree or a minimum of 5 years of YMCA experience
· 2 years of supervisory experience
· Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration, YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent
· Hold current certification in YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor
Hold Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification
· Child abuse prevention, Sexual Harassments and Mandated Report trainings upon hire
· Show leadership, maturity, and self-control and be a positive role model
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Have an understanding of age and sex characteristics of child and adolescent development
Represent the Greater Waterbury YMCA in a positive manner at all times, in and out of the YMCA, and maintain relationships with cooperating organizations and community groups
Maintain and continue YMCA Aquatic Training
Be dependable and reliable
Lifeguarding as needed and scheduled by Senior Program Director
Maintain an acceptable level of physical fitness to perform in pool activities
Consistently provide friendly, courteous assistance exceeding member expectations every day, which include building and maintaining healthy professional relationships with members, staff and host agencies
Represent the YMCA in a positive image and maintain relationships with cooperating organizations and community groups
Assist Senior Program Director by attending team meetings as needed
Plan, organize, and implement a comprehensive aquatic program to include Aquatic Fitness classes, and Y aquatic activities, supervising Lifeguards and program staff
Assign duties, create schedules for staff, keep accurate records including attendance, certifications, skill levels, personnel, and pay records
Report items of importance and equipment needs to the Aquatic Director
Share responsibilities with and as assigned by the Senior Program Director
o Development of the Aquatic budget
o New employee staff training
o Evaluation of program procedures and job descriptions
o Evaluation of membership schedule, procedures, and policies
Prepare and run In-service quarterly trainings with Lifeguards, can be done in conjunction with senior Program Director
Supervise; Lifeguard staff, swim lesson instructors, and volunteers
Seek out willing volunteers for the YMCA
Promote swim team and other Y programs to class participants
Ensure the safety of all participants by following all applicable Risk Management Policies and proper Aquatic Procedures
