Infrastructure Intern (Fall 2026)

Greater Washington Partnership (the Partnership) is a cross-sector alliance of leading employers in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia committed to championing the region’s economic growth and prosperity. The Partnership seeks a skilled and motivated individual who is a current undergraduate or graduate student with knowledge, experience, and interest in infrastructure funding and delivery, energy, and urban policy. Reporting to the Senior Associate, Regional Mobility and Infrastructure, this individual will be primarily responsible for supporting and advancing the Partnership’s energy infrastructure and permitting reform portfolio, as well as providing general support on transportation initiatives. The Infrastructure Intern will develop a range of skills including research and writing, event planning, and policy analysis through support of the Partnership’s Regional Mobility & Infrastructure initiative.

The Partnership’s Regional Mobility & Infrastructure (RMI) initiative convenes public-sector leaders, private industry, and operators to build regional consensus around infrastructure priorities, investments, and opportunities. Through this work, the Partnership advances strategies that strengthen the region’s transportation, energy, utility, and built environment systems, ensuring the region benefits from modern, efficient, and future-ready infrastructure networks.

The Infrastructure Intern will work on a part-time schedule of approximately 25 hours a week, with specific hours and days of the week determined upon hire. This role is hybrid and offers a mix of remote and in-person work (with a preference for the majority of hours completed in-person on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays, with the remainder of hours completed remotely on Mondays/Fridays).

The selected intern will receive an hourly wage of $20.

Core Responsibilities

·      Analyze regional policies pertaining to energy, permitting, transportation, and infrastructure funding.

·      Assist with content, planning, and staffing for RMI initiative events.

·      Research and track action, policy issues, and current events at the congressional, state, and local levels related to RMI priorities.

·      Provide readouts and key insights from internal and external meetings, briefings, and events.

·      Provide stakeholder engagement, content generation, and administrative support to two RMI led coalitions – Baltimore's Transit Future coalition and Metropolitan Civic Leadership Alliance.

·      Support RMI communications and stakeholder engagement, including drafting internal and external Partnership communications.

·      Provide ad hoc support for the RMI team and other initiatives as needed.
