Summary
Licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, GSMYC operates a General Residential Operation-Multiple Services with the maximum number served at 16 boys and girls, although two beds are kept open for emergencies. Care Specialist are responsible for the overall safety and well-being of the children in our care. We are a 24 hour facility.
The children range in age from 2 -17 and have been removed from what they know as home due to abuse and neglect. Direct Care duties include teaching life skills, modeling positive behavior, engaging children in educational and recreational activities, cooking, cleaning, laundry and ensuring each child's safety throughout each shift.
Qualifications
- Child care experience
- Effective team work
- First aid certification (preferred not required)
- Ability to work with a multitude behaviors
- Proficiency in personal care
- Experience in caregiving for children in foster care (preferred but not required)
- Knowledge of residents' rights and behavior management
- Strong communication and social work skills
- Valid driver's license for transportation needs
- Involved in fast pace living environment
