What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Attendant position at Greater Peoria Family YMCA?
Overview
This Wellness Attendant supports the work of the YMCA, a leading non-profit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This role will educate and enforce operational guidelines with all members, as well as maintain all weight training equipment and keep the Wellness Center organized and clean.
Responsibilities
- Monitor wellness areas and greet members in a positive and cheerful manner.
- Assist members while they are using the facility and circulate throughout shift.
- Wear a staff shirt, name tag, appropriate workout pants, shorts, and shoes during the entire shift.
- Maintain a neat and clean Wellness Center by performing all outlined cleaning duties, shift checklist, and addressing any areas that need immediate attention.
- responsible for care, return, and storage of all equipment.
- fill all disinfectant bottles, replace towels, wipes, and other supplies as needed.
- laundry during the entire shift. (Wash, dry, and fold cleaning towels).
- document all maintenance and equipment issues/repairs to the Maintenance Director.
- Control occupancy of the Wellness Center during the entire shift.
- Exercise sound judgment in relationship to member safety and injuries.
- Available to take prospective members on tours of the facility with knowledge of the practice/procedure and rules implemented by the YMCA.
- Attend all staff meetings and in-house training designated by the supervisor.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Age 18
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications; Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention training. (Within 30 days of hire date).
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with adults and youth.
