What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher - Substitute position at Greater Opportunities, Inc?
A Substitute Teacher shall assist the teacher in carrying out the daily program activities as directed.
Teacher Substitute - Education and Experience: High School Diploma/GED. Valid NYS driver’s license and personal transportation
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Teacher Substitute - Duties/Responsibilities:
· Able to be on call as needed.
· Ability to relate to people with various socioeconomic and educational backgrounds
· Supervise activities as directed by teacher/assistant: Large group, small group of individually.
· Keep teacher/assistant informed of events, any signs of illness or injury of any child.
· Understand Head Start goals, guide-lines, and objectives as stated in Performance Standards.
· Practice confidentiality of any information about Head Start children, parents, or families learned through association with Head Start.
· Report to teacher/assistant any signs of illness or injury of any child in program.
· Maintain adult/child ratios at all times
· Work cooperatively to maintain smooth center operations, including center maintenance (moving furniture, equipment, children)
Teacher Substitute - Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee must be able to stand and sit on the floor and in child-sized chairs also, must be able to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
