Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, following prescribed protocols and ensuring patient safety throughout the process.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation of patient interactions, treatments, and progress notes.
- Manage complex medical procedures such as IV infusions, catheterization, wound suturing, and ventilator management with precision and aseptic technique.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive discharge planning and case management strategies tailored to individual patient needs.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as hospice & palliative medicine, behavioral health, geriatrics, or pediatric care based on experience.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of all patient information while delivering exceptional patient care.
Skills
- Extensive experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in medical documentation is essential.
- Strong clinical skills including IV insertion, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and laboratory experience.
- Knowledge of advanced nursing procedures such as trauma medicine at Level I/II trauma centers or ICU experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform complex assessments involving physiology knowledge and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Familiarity with specialized fields such as cardiology (cardiac catheterization), nephrology (dialysis), ophthalmology (botulinum toxin treatment), or esthetic laser treatments enhances versatility.
- Excellent communication skills for triage situations, patient education, health coaching, and working effectively with people with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environments including emergency room experience or urgent care settings while maintaining attention to detail.
