Responsibilities
- Manage patient intake procedures, including data entry and verification of insurance information using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Review and update medical records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with appointment scheduling and coordinate front desk activities to optimize patient flow.
- Perform insurance verification and process medical billing using CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and Medicare guidelines.
- Support documentation review for care plans, clinical notes, and billing claims to ensure proper coding and reimbursement.
- Maintain proficiency with various EMR systems and office software such as Microsoft Office to facilitate efficient administrative operations.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Organize filing systems for medical records and ensure secure handling of sensitive health information.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate accurate documentation review and support medical administrative tasks.
- Assist with office management duties including medical scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a medical office or clinic environment is highly preferred, especially within dental or hospital settings.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix is required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform medical billing and collections accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry tasks.
- Effective communication skills complemented by bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse patient populations..
- Competency in computer skills including typing (10 key), Microsoft Office suite, filing systems, and multi-line phone operation.
