Program: MHOTRS Clinic (Mental Health Outpatient Treatment and Rehabilitation Services) School-based/Mobile Satellites

Location: Rockland, NY 

Hours Per Week: 35 per week ( open to 10-40 hours per week)
FLSA Status:  
Full Time, Exempt   (open to Part Time, Full Time, or fee-for-service consultant)
Annual Salary Range: 
 $58,000 - $77,420 


We provide weekly clinical supervision aimed at promoting the effective accumulation of clinical hours. This structured support is designed to enhance professional development and ensure a comprehensive understanding of clinical practices.

 

Summary Description: The MHOTRS Licensed School-Based Clinician will offer individual, group, and family services for individuals of different ages presenting with a broad range of behavioral health conditions. Our school-based clinic services deliver integrated behavioral health services with a robust team of providers. The Clinician is responsible for the provision of direct clinical services and coordination with other agencies serving the clients. The school-based Clinician will demonstrate particular competence in providing trauma-related care, utilizing evidence-based approaches. The Clinician must possess the ability to engage and effect change through a person-centered model. The Clinician will demonstrate initiative, flexibility, creativity, and a collaborative spirit. The Clinician will support recovery by providing services that reflect our deeply held values that include the recognition of individual rights of self-determination, choice, shared decision-making, and collaboration. The Clinician will utilize evidence-based practices, embracing trauma-informed and person-centered approaches. The Clinician will demonstrate co-occurring competence to deliver services that are integrated and holistic.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally sensitive direct clinical services, which may include but are not limited to: assessment and treatment planning, individual, family, and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and community consultation and education.
  • Document client progress in a timely manner, ensuring records comply with agency policies and regulatory requirements, following established methods and procedures.
  • Identify social determinants of health needs, such as case management, and coordinate with other agencies and community resources.
  • Coordinate treatment, including treatment transition with other community agencies and services.
  • Coordinate treatment and collaborate with school-based providers; educators engaging in integrated care conferences 
  • Participate in program development and in training programs.
  • Follow the established clinic policies & procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate professional standards.
  • Other designated or related duties.

Competencies:

  • Principles, practices, and methods of community mental health treatment, including complexity-capable interviewing, assessment, marriage, family, child, and group counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Adult and/or child psychology, including development and psychopathology.
  • Applicable city, state, and federal guidelines and laws affecting mental health treatment, services, and reporting procedures.
  • Common challenges associated with mental health conditions.
  • Principles of psychological growth and development.
  • Community mental health resources and services, and other health, financial, social, recreational, cultural, housing, and legal advocacy services.
  • Understanding the impact of culture on mental health practices.
  • Familiarity with and ability to effectively use an Electronic Health Record system.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Meet the required productivity targets as set forth by the clinic leadership.
  • Keep timely and accurate documentation as required by licensing and the agency.
  • Participate in the team’s integrated meetings.
  • Collaborate with the team on care coordination.
  • Partnership with external referral sources (i.e., schools)
  • Be part of the open access schedule.
  • Work alongside agency systems (compliance, quality, service providers)

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling with clinical experience in the academic program at an accredited school of social work/counseling.
  • Must be licensed in New York State, be in good standing, and remain in continuous good standing with the state’s licensing board: LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCSW or Limited permit.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Must be reliable and able to work independently and understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
  • Basic computer knowledge and the ability to document in an electronic health record is required.
  • Must be cleared by NYS Justice Center through fingerprinting for a Criminal History Records search.
  • Must be cleared by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs Staff Exclusion List (SEL) and the New York State Medicaid Exclusion List.
  • Must be cleared by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) for instances of child abuse and/or neglect.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management systems.
  • Fluency in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking).
  • Must maintain clearance by applicable regulatory clearances as required.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Special Considerations:

  • Hours Per Week, Reporting Structure, and Location are subject to change per program needs with flexibility offered 
  • Travel required to School-based/Mobile Satellites.


Mandated Reporter:

This is a Mandated Reporter position.  The NYS Justice Center legislation defines anyone who has regular and substantial contact with any person with special needs as a “custodian” under the law and, therefore, a mandated reporter.  You can be held liable by both the civil and criminal legal systems for intentionally failing to make a report.
