What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Guard-Part time (10 Month Position) position at Greater Lowell Technical High School?
1.Patrols district buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal activity.
2.Conducts patrol inspections of doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
3.Checks daily to ensure that all doors are open/closed and all panic hardware are working properly during hours of building occupancy.
4.Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them and/or call local police for assistance.
5.Patrols school grounds to ensure proper usage of all playing fields by authorized groups only. (Only those groups which have a valid Use of School Facilities Permit)
6.Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctions of heating, air conditioning, plumbing or electrical systems.
7.Make written reports.
8.Issues visitor passes; assists authorized visitors with directions and needed explanations.
9.Assumes traffic and parking lot responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor.
10.Assist law enforcement officers as directed by immediate supervisor.
11.Monitors various areas of school grounds and buildings using multiple security cameras; maintains awareness of vehicles entering and leaving school grounds.
12.Operates school motor vehicle in performance of duties; reports any vehicle malfunction or needed repair to supervisor.
Qualifications:
1.High School Graduate
2.Good communication skills
3.Possess valid motor vehicle operator’s license with good operator history required. Minimum of five years motor vehicle operator experience.
4.Experience as a policeman, fireman or watchman (preferred)
5.Ability to present information and respond to questions, inquiries or complaints.
6.Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
7.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
8.Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, and work with frequent interruptions
