Job Title: Dance Program Instructor Department: Sports
Reports to: Program Director
Status: Part-Time (Non-Exempt) Revision Date: 3/29/22
POSITION SUMMARY:
Program Instructors will provide a safe, fun experience for an assigned group of participants. Teaching different skills and techniques to enable participants to express themselves through dance and culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Plan age-appropriate dance practices for YMCA participants.
· Develop lesson plans for the Dance program and prepare the participants for performances.
· Track participant’s attendance and progress.
· Partner with the Program Director to coordinate and promote the Y’s Dance program throughout the community.
· Maintain high level of professionalism with parents, facility personnel, staff, and clients. Communicate with parents and guardians.
· Uphold all YMCA policies and Risk Management/Safety procedures, which require reporting all incident and accidents to program Director immediately.
· Report to Program Director when supplies are needed and preserve the quality of supplies and materials.
· Attend all staff meetings and training opportunities as required.
· Additional job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum 18 years of age preferred.
· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
· One to two years of formal dance education/lessons and instructing dance experience.
· Strong communication skills.
· CPR/AED certification to be obtained with employment.
