Serves as a Budget and Financial Technician in the Research Service Budget Office, in Los Angeles, California. Providing technical support for budget, accounting, and financial management activities.
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform successfully the duties of a Budget and Financial Technician, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: processing financial, budget, payroll, or accounting transactions using automated systems and established procedures; compiling and maintaining budget and financial data used to track expenditures, obligations, and account balances; responding to inquiries from customers, vendors, and staff regarding financial transactions, purchasing actions, and account status; reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies; and tracking expenditures, obligations, and account balances. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates, AND hours worked per week.
Physical Requirements: The work may require some physical effort, such as standing, walking, bending, or sitting. The work is primarily sedentary and there are no special physical demands.

Responsibilities:
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION***The major duties include but are not limited to:
- Processes purchase requests, obligations, invoices, and other financial transactions using automated financial systems.
- Reconciles financial accounts and verifies charges, expenditures, and account balances.
- Maintains budget, accounting, and financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Monitors expenditures, obligations, and fund availability and assists with budget tracking activities.
- Reviews, certifies, and processes invoices for payment in accordance with established procedures.
- Compiles, analyzes, and prepares financial reports, spreadsheets, and budget-related data.
- Assists with payroll projections and maintains financial data used for staffing and budget planning.
- Coordinates and tracks grants, reimbursable accounts, and interagency agreements to ensure proper financial management.
- Provides financial and budget-related assistance to management, staff, vendors, and customers by responding to inquiries and resolving issues.
- Utilizes financial management software and office automation tools to enter, maintain, retrieve, and report financial information.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
