The Y offers a wide range of youth programs—including camps, afterschool activities, and child enrichment experiences—that support cognitive, social, physical, and emotional growth, with financial assistance enabling participation for a majority of the young people served. Through wellness and prevention programs, including group exercise and specialized health initiatives, the Y helps more than 23,000 community members pursue better health in spirit, mind, and body. Role Description The Vice President of Youth Development is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Kingsport, TN, responsible for overseeing all youth-focused programs and services at the Greater Kingsport Family YMCA. This role leads strategic planning and execution for youth development initiatives, including camps, afterschool programs, early childhood activities, and outreach efforts, ensuring alignment with the Y’s mission and community needs. The Vice President supervises and mentors program directors and staff, manages budgets and resources, and monitors program quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Day-to-day responsibilities include building community partnerships, fostering strong relationships with families, collaborating with other YMCA departments, and evaluating program outcomes to drive continuous improvement. The role also involves supporting fundraising, grant efforts, and volunteer engagement to expand access and impact for children and teens.
Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including team supervision, staff development, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in youth development, education, or related fields, with a strong understanding of child and teen growth, behavior, and learning principles.
• Program planning and administration skills, including budgeting, scheduling, compliance oversight, and outcomes evaluation.
• Relationship-building and community engagement abilities, with experience working with families, schools, nonprofits, or local agencies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking, presentation, and stakeholder reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and make data-informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, with sensitivity to individuals from varied backgrounds and experiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, nonprofit management, youth development, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Prior experience in a YMCA or similar mission-driven organization, and familiarity with risk management and safety standards for youth programs.
