What are the responsibilities and job description for the Morris Sports Manager position at Greater Joliet Area YMCA?

Manages and coordinates all youth and adult sports programming and leagues.

Expands youth and adult sports program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits. Maintains inventory and records of condition of Sports Department equipment.

Assist the Sports Director in recruiting, hiring, training, developing, scheduling and directing personnel (part-time and seasonal) and volunteers as needed. Assist in reviewing and evaluating staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

Monitor daily operations of the gymnasium and field and maintain safety, cleanliness and order in these areas.

Responsible for assisting with sports programming operations including but not limited to: creating sports teams, organizing and conducting parent orientation meetings and conducting all trainings and meetings for coaches.

Ensure adequate coverage for all youth and adult leagues on and off site. Acts as coach, referee and instructor, as needed.

Responsible for the marketing and distribution of youth sports program information.

Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with off-site facility staff.

Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.

Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.

Highly flexible schedule with varying hours including working evenings and weekends.

Attends sports cabinet meetings and other related meetings as assigned.

Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.

Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.

One to two years’ related experience preferred.

Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention; Preventing Sexual Harassment; Active Shooter training; Slip Trip and Fall prevention; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.

Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
