What are the responsibilities and job description for the Joliet Junior Wolves Dance Instructor position at Greater Joliet Area YMCA?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides dance instruction to children; teaching dance techniques.

Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.

Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.

Conveys information on dance programs and schedules and as appropriate refers program participants and families to other programs.

Organizes, sets up and puts away needed class equipment.

Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff within the YMCA Guidelines. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, communication with program participants, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.

Previous experience working with children.

Must be a certified instructor or have a minimum 2 years of previous instruction or 3 years of dance lesson experience.

At least 16 years of age.

CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.

Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper dance techniques.

Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
