Job Summary
As a Technology Director, you will lead our technology strategy and oversee the development and implementation of innovative solutions that drive our district forward. You will be at the forefront of transforming our IT infrastructure, ensuring robust security measures, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Your leadership will empower teams to excel in development, system administration, and project management while navigating the ever-evolving landscape of technology.
What you’ll do
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with district goals.
- Oversee the design and implementation of scalable IT infrastructure, including cloud computing solutions using AWS and Azure.
- Lead cross-functional teams in development projects and ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Manage network security protocols, including VPNs, firewalls, and DNS configurations to safeguard sensitive information.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to establish IT governance frameworks that support risk management and compliance with standards.
- Drive innovation through machine learning, AI applications, and data analytics to enhance operational efficiency.
- Foster vendor management relationships to optimize procurement processes for IT resources.
- Champion business continuity planning and disaster recovery initiatives to ensure operational resilience.
Technical Skills
- Network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, servers)
- Device management (Chromebooks, iPads, Windows PCs, etc.)
- Cloud systems (Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, etc.)

Minimum Education Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas:
- Information Technology (IT)
- Computer Science
- Information Systems
- Educational Technology
- Technology Management
- or a closely related field

Master’s degree in:
- Educational Leadership or Administration
- Educational Technology
- Technology Management
- Business Administration (with IT focus)
Preferred / Highly Recommended Professional Certifications:
- CETL (Certified Education Technology Leader) – Issued by CoSN; nationally recognized for K–12 tech leaders
- CompTIA Network or Security – for network/cybersecurity expertise
- Google Certified Administrator – for districts using Google Workspace for Education
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator / M365 Administrator – for Microsoft-based environments
- ITIL Foundation Certification – for IT service management best practices
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) – for advanced cybersecurity oversight
Technical
- Proficient in managing district networks, servers, Wi-Fi, and devices (Chromebooks, iPads, PCs)
- Knowledge of cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance (FERPA, CIPA, COPPA)
- Experience with student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool, Skyward) and learning management systems (e.g., Schoology, Canvas)
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure (Google Admin Console, Microsoft 365, etc.)
Leadership
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage district-wide technology initiatives
- Experience supervising IT staff and coordinating technology support
- Strong budgeting and procurement experience
- Effective communication with administrators, teachers, and community members
Professional
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in educational or enterprise technology
- Experience in K–12 settings preferred
