Position Summary
The Portfolio Manager will manage and monitor a portfolio of small business loans and lines of credit originated through GJDC’s Business Services Group. The role focuses on ensuring portfolio quality, mitigating risk, supporting borrowers’ business health, and contributing to the long-term growth of GJDC’s lending programs. This position requires strong analytical ability, relationship management, and a commitment to community-based lending.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee an active portfolio of small business loans, monitoring repayment trends, credit risk, and borrower performance.
- Conduct regular financial reviews of client businesses, including cashflow analysis, balance sheets, and income statements.
- Identify and report early warning signs of credit risk; develop strategies for restructuring, collections, or recovery where necessary.
- Provide business advisory and financial guidance to borrowers to strengthen their operations and capacity to repay.
- Prepare portfolio and risk management reports for senior leadership and board committees.
- Support loan servicing operations, renewals, and modifications in collaboration with underwriting and compliance staff.
- Maintain compliance with internal lending policies and external regulatory or funder requirements.
- Collaborate with external partners (banks, CDFIs, city agencies, and technical assistance providers) to support borrower success and portfolio stability.
- Participate in outreach events and contribute to business development strategies for future lending programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in commercial lending, loan servicing, credit analysis, or portfolio management.
- Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting business financials.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy under deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills — capable of advising small business owners with clarity and empathy.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and database management skills; familiarity with loan servicing systems a plus.

Compensation
Salary Range: $90,000 – $105,000 annually, commensurate with experience and credentials.
