Donation Pickup/Delivery Associate for Habitat ReStore - West Indy

The Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a home-improvement thrift store that benefits Habitat for Humanity’s mission! We specialize in furniture, appliances, household goods, and building materials. We work hard, have fun, and help our community while earning a paycheck.

We’re seeking professional delivery drivers to help make our donors and customers happy on the route and in the store! You’ll pick up household donations, bring them to the store, and get them ready for sale by cleaning, pricing, and merchandising. This position involves BOTH driving and working in our store:

Store Responsibilities:

• Provide friendly and professional customer service by answering questions and/or loading customer vehicles with large purchases
• Help unload donations from drop-off donors or from the Habitat donation box-trucks
• Screen incoming donations based on condition and politely decline items that don’t align with our mission
• Process donations by cleaning, researching, and determining the ‘right’ price for each item
• Merchandise product by displaying it in the proper location with appropriate signage

Pick-up Responsibilities:

• Be the face of Habitat by providing friendly and professional customer service to all our donors
• Review donation pickup schedule notes and load Habitat donation box-truck with necessary moving equipment
• Safely drive 16ft box truck around Indianapolis and neighboring counties
• Verify the condition of the donations and politely decline items that don’t align with our mission
• Physically move items out of the donor homes and load onto truck (with another person and/or moving equipment)
• Communicate with the store manager and donation coordinator about results of the pickup

Hours & Pay:

• Weekly pay set at $18/hour

• Day shift between the hours of 9:30am-7pm
• Full-time: 40 hours a week, with little to no overtime opportunities
• Set Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday. The store is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Qualifications:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have a valid driver’s license (No CDL required) and pass a driving record check
• No convictions related to theft, violence, or sexual assault
• 2 years of in-person customer service experience
• 1 years of box truck or light freight delivery experience (Ex: companies like UPS, Amazon, FedEx, etc.)
• >> Delivery jobs using your own vehicle like DoorDash, Uber, or patient/medical transport will not be considered relevant experience.
• >> Experience loading/unloading your own truck, set-up and installation upon delivery, handling customer interactions, and working in a store/warehouse when not on a route is preferred
• Able to lift 50lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, walking, lifting, bending, etc.)
• Willing and able to do the following: drive a 16ft box truck, heavy lifting, customer service, pricing and merchandising
• Flexible, self-starter with strong initiative
• Able to maintain a polite, professional demeanor while completing strenuous physical tasks, keeping the route on schedule, and managing changing priorities.
