Responsible for: Helping lead our efforts in attracting, retaining, and expanding both domestic and international companies — creating high-skill, high-wage jobs and driving capital investment across our region.
Reports to: Sr. Vice President Business Development

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Position Summary:
As Director of Business Development, you’ll serve as a trusted partner to businesses, community leaders, and government agencies.
Your work will include:
- Managing high-impact projects that bring new companies and investments to Broward County.
- Leading our Business Retention and Visitation Outreach (BRAVO) program to help existing companies grow and thrive.
- Responding to project leads, RFPs, and relocation inquiries with creative, data-driven solutions.
- Guiding clients through incentive programs and coordinating with Florida Commerce, municipalities, and key stakeholders.
- Representing the Alliance at local, national, and international events that position Greater Fort Lauderdale as a premier business destination.
Who You Are
You’re a natural relationship builder — equally comfortable in boardrooms, trade shows, and community meetings. You bring:
- 4–7 years of experience in business or economic development.
- Strong understanding of factors that drive business decisions of economic development principles, incentive programs, and site selection processes.
- Experience engaging corporate executives, investors, and public officials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
- A collaborative, proactive, and entrepreneurial spirit with a “can-do” attitude.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or a related experience is preferred.
