Position Overview

This role supports the President of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce in advancing a high performing, forward looking organization focused on operational excellence, member engagement, and regional business impact. A primary responsibility of this position is to assume day to day operational, financial, banking, and compliance oversight currently managed by the Chamber President, creating greater capacity for strategic leadership, external engagement, and organizational growth.

The position blends hands on execution with strategic leadership across operations, systems management, membership engagement, and sponsorship development.

This is a positive, change oriented role for a leader who embraces continuous improvement, builds strong relationships, and strengthens systems and processes to better serve members and the regional business community.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership and Strategic Alignment

• Lead and manage day to day Chamber operations, including administrative systems, accounting workflows, banking oversight, and compliance functions transitioned from the President
• Support execution and refinement of the Chamber business plan, budget, vendors, and programming
• Strengthen internal systems to improve efficiency, accountability, and member value
• Maintain consistent operational rhythms including planning, reporting, and performance review cycles

Member Engagement, Retention, and Sponsorship Development

• Lead membership onboarding, retention, renewal, and engagement strategies
• Use CRM insights to enhance communication, targeting, and member experience
• Grow sponsorship revenue through relationship building, structured outreach, and bundled opportunities
• Align programs and services with member needs and long term organizational sustainability

Systems, Data, and Financial Oversight

• Serve as system owner for CRM integrity and organizational adoption
• Ensure alignment between CRM and financial systems including QuickBooks
• Oversee billing processes including invoicing, collections, reconciliation, and reporting
• Maintain strong financial controls, accuracy, and compliance standards
• Continuously evaluate and improve operational, financial, and administrative workflows

Staff Support and Organizational Effectiveness

• Provide daily operational coordination and support across staff functions
• Establish clear expectations, accountability, and workflow consistency
• Support staff development and system adoption
• Foster a collaborative, solutions oriented internal culture

External Partnerships and Regional Collaboration

• Cultivate relationships with business leaders, municipalities, and regional partners to strengthen the Chamber’s role as a central connector of the business community
• Strengthen Chamber engagement in regional economic development efforts
• Represent the Chamber in a professional, positive, and partnership focused manner

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience in operations, nonprofit management, membership organizations, or business administration
• Strong systems thinking and process improvement skills
• Experience with CRM platforms (ChamberMaster or similar preferred)
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks with hands on user experience preferred
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, evolving environment
• Demonstrated ability to lead change and improve systems
