Detailed Description
Duties: Collects data from assigned street locations. Collects running time checks and passenger counts on bus/rapid routes. Provides additional information to department as needed. Collect data for surveys. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements: Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED, and must be proficient in basic math. Applicants must have demonstrated experience to accurately read and interpret maps. Applicants must have a valid Ohio driver's license. Applicants will be required to work in all types of weather and in any assigned work area.
Working Conditions: The working conditions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
Environmental Conditions: This person will work predominantly in an outdoor environment on buses, trains and along all RTA routes collecting passenger data in various weather conditions (exposure to cold, heat, rain and noise). This person will observe route time schedules, safety rules/regulations, and state and municipal traffic laws.
Physical Demands: Requires maintaining physical condition necessary for standing for up to 8 hours or more, sitting, walking, bending, stooping; climbing; and lifting materials and supplies weighing up to 10 lbs. Will be required to ride RTA buses and trains with exposure to all weather conditions for up to 8 hours a day.
Mental Demands: Requires reading and interpreting maps, watching, studying, observing, seeing, hearing, basic math skills, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
Examination Information: Candidates selected to participate in the hiring process will be notified of the exact time and place of the examination. The examination process will consist of three parts: a written examination, performance assessment and/or interview, and record evaluation (for internal candidates only). Candidates must attain a minimum of 70% on all parts of the process, except 60% on the interview portion, to move forward in the process.
Weights for a final score will be assigned as follows: Weights for a final score will be assigned as follows for internal candidates: Written 50%, Performance Assessment and/or Interview 35%, Record Evaluation 15%. All candidates must score a minimum composite score of 70% in order to establish eligibility for the portion. Internal candidates must meet all record evaluation criteria in order to gain the 15% weighting. Records evaluation information includes a review of the following:

- 2 or more AWOL or absence control suspensions
- 3 or more active written reminders (regardless of the level)
- 5 or more misses (regardless of whether they are active or not active)
- 4 or more active tardies
- Drug or alcohol suspension
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) suspension
- Active Decision Making Leave (DML)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day or night, any day and night of the week. The position is a bargaining unit position.
