POSITION SUMMARY:

The Content Strategist, Business Growth Storytelling is responsible for executing a forward-thinking content strategy that positions the region as a center of business growth and innovation, while strengthening business confidence across the market.


This role is designed for a creative storyteller who thrives on producing compelling video narratives that highlight innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship across Greater Cleveland’s business ecosystem. The ideal candidate will bring equal passion to broader business growth stories, including areas such as mergers and acquisitions, sustainability, and energy, capturing the full spectrum of regional momentum.


The position combines hands-on content creation with strategic planning, distribution, and performance optimization, utilizing the latest AI-powered tools and emerging platforms to maximize reach, engagement, and overall impact. A strong emphasis is placed on video storytelling, visual design, and the strategic use of content to support and showcase business success stories and innovation at GCP events to grow business confidence.

Candidates must submit no fewer than five examples of compelling digital content, with a strong preference for original video storytelling, photography, and social-first visuals that demonstrate audience engagement and narrative clarity.


SALARY RANGE: $65,000 - $70,000

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

As a key member of the GCP Strategic Communications content team, develop and deliver video-first, strategically driven storytelling that highlights innovation and broader business growth across the Greater Cleveland business community.

  • Conceptualize, script, shoot, conduct interviews and edit raw footage into polished, engaging short-form video content—including reels, social clips, interviews, behind-the-scenes features, and event recaps—using dynamic pacing, transitions, sound design, captions, motion graphics, and brand-forward visuals.
  • Anticipate emerging digital trends and experiment with new formats, storytelling techniques, and platform-native features to position GCP as an innovative newsmaker before trends reach the mainstream.
  • Produce and publish 4–6 visually compelling content pieces per week for Greater Cleveland Partnership and Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) channels.
  • Working with the Director of Digital Communications, tailor content for each platform—optimizing for format, length, audience behavior, timing, and tone across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook amongst others, and emerging channels.
  • Leverage content to support event communications, including pre-event promotional storytelling, on-site event coverage and live content, and post-event recaps and evergreen video assets
  • Collaborate with events team and others to extend the reach and impact of GCP convenings while conveying a broader regional business confidence narrative through compelling storytelling.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics (views, engagement, completion rates), using insights to refine creative strategy and content execution.
  • Actively explore and incorporate AI-driven technologies—such as AI-assisted video editing, captioning, content optimization, audience insights, and creative ideation tools—to increase efficiency and innovation.
  • Stay current with best practices in video production, social media strategy, AI applications, and digital storytelling trends.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, digital media, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in multimedia content creation, with a strong emphasis on video storytelling and social media content production.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS: 

  • Must have a deep passion for storytelling around innovation and business growth.
  • Strong proficiency with video production tools and workflows; experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) preferred.
  • Comfortable experimenting with and adopting new platforms, tools, and AI-powered technologies.
  • Graphic design skills are a strong plus, particularly for social media graphics and event-related visuals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas into clear, compelling stories.
  • Comfort using artificial intelligence (AI)–enabled tools to support productivity, analysis, communication, and decision-making, with appropriate judgment and adherence to responsible use guidelines.
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative, collaborative problem solver with a strong attention to detail.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • May be required to work more than eight hours during a workday or on weekends and evenings.
  • Extended periods of sitting and computer use.
  • Position includes travel/driving. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Manual dexterity required for prolonged use of digital tools and editing platforms.

 

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS 

  • Available during standard business hours of 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday.
  • Must work core in office hours from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. for coverage and collaboration.
  • Flexibility for occasional off-hours work to support events and content production.
  • Ability to work in the office a minimum of four (4) days (Monday through Thursday) with the option to work remotely on Friday with supervisor approval.
