Heating & Air Conditioning Technician
Hours: Monday-Friday; 6am-2:30pm
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of boilers, furnaces, and air conditioning units in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
2. Determines which repair jobs may be performed by staff and consults the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds on those which must be performed by outside contractors.
3. Oversees all heating/air conditioning repair work performed by district personnel.
4. Instructs custodians and maintenance workers on the proper care of heating and air conditioning systems throughout the district
5. Recommends and orders supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintains the inventory of district-owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies.
6. Estimates costs of heating/air conditioning repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.
7. Examines district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance.
8. Completes electrical and plumbing assignments as requested.
9. Works effectively with other district maintenance personnel as well as outside contractors.
10. On call two weeks per month.
11. Performs other duties as requested by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
