Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly.
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safe and accurate delivery of treatments.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs, including specialized diets for dementia or Alzheimer's care.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, laundry, and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide companionship and emotional support through active communication, engaging activities, and attentive listening to residents’ needs.
- Document care activities accurately in resident records while respecting confidentiality standards such as HIPAA compliance.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings using appropriate client transportation methods.
- Support residents during emergencies or medical procedures by following safety protocols like CPR or first aid when necessary.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders enhances your ability to provide specialized support.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while assisting residents with transfers or mobility challenges.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Certification in CPR and first aid is preferred; ongoing training in patient observation and medication administration is a plus.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality of resident information at all times.
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience and adaptability to meet diverse resident needs in geriatrics or intellectual disabilities support roles.
- Must pass criminal background check
