POSITION SCOPE
The logistics specialist is a key member of Soufflet Malt’s logistics team. As a member of this team, you will ensure the daily success of both tender management, working closely with customer service and on-time pickup & delivery, working closely with our distribution centers. Your attention to detail and commitment to resolving issues as they arise will be critical to creating the seamless logistics processes that CMG strives to achieve. Strong communication skills, cross-collaboration, and a team player attitude will help support the resolution of business process improvement opportunities, system optimization, customer delivery resolution, and carrier management, freight pay, and audit.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ensure coverage & execution of loads against relevant milestones and identify risks to successful delivery

Arrange special transportation for expedited, diverted and/or consolidated shipments.

Review, assess, and make decisions to execute accessorial charge requests for approval or denial within an obligatory payment window

Assist with freight invoice review and help to diagnose/resolve discrepancies that need further research as well as fix basic errors that can be corrected quickly and accurately

Support logistics exceptions handling processes per SOPs

Proactively work with carriers so that they have the required information to ensure a smooth transportation process
- Assist with resolving customer shipment issues including routing returns, filing damage claims with the carrier, and coordinating replacement shipments

Monitor carrier performance and report carrier failures to Logistics management for tracking and review

Gather shipment data from transportation providers to support data cleaning for aging exceptions
- Keep up to date on shipping carriers, routes, and rates and any changes to them.

Updating internal documents/TMS system configurations as changes occur or to correct errors

Function as a key logistics point of contact to answer questions related to customer shipment.
- Communicate to, and work with customer service regarding complaints and support problem resolution

Ability to read and interpret transportation industry documentation (rate contracts, rate details, BOLs)

Associates/bachelor’s degree or 2-4 years previous experience working with LTL in the logistics industry

Experience with BlueJay Solution for Shippers or other TMS system
- Working knowledge of MS Office tools including Excel, Word and Outlook
WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard working hours with the ability to be flexible given time zone differences.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position or stand for prolonged periods.

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.

Personal protective equipment is required of all employees when on manufacturing and distribution sites.
- Must be able to work in an open-office environment with cubicle seating on a hybrid schedule.

Must be able to work in the office, attend meetings and interact with others onsite.

COMPENSATION
Hourly Rate: $25.26 -$37.89 per hour DOE
Newly hired incumbents are placed on the salary scale based on their education, training/skill, and experience, as applicable.
