What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Van Driver position at Great Prairie Area Education Agency?

Great Prairie Area Education Agency has an immediate opening for a Substitute Van Driver.

This position will report to the Ottumwa AEA office location and may travel up to 100 miles for deliveries to schools and libraries in company vehicle.

Starting time: may be between 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM.

Starting pay: $17.74/hour

Position Overview:


Supports the Instructional Media program with the delivery and distribution of instructional
materials to schools and libraries.


Qualification:


1. High school graduate or GED.
2. Valid Iowa driver’s license.
3. Good driving record.
4. Self-starter with the ability to maintain a rigid time schedule.
5. Able to develop and maintain professional relationships with staff, students, parents, and
the community.
6. Must be loyal, punctual, neat, and able to take criticism from both clients and supervisor
and still maintain good relations.


Essential Functions:


1. Deliver and pick up instructional materials and mail used by schools served by Agency.
2. Maintain assigned delivery schedule.
3. Represent the Agency with a professional, courteous attitude.
4. Answer questions about Instructional Media that are asked along the delivery route, and
relay questions to supervisor.
5. Maintain the records associated with the delivery of materials.
6. Maintain the external and internal appearance of delivery van.
7. Monitor performance, body integrity, tire wear, and fluid levels of van.
8. Have van refueled and serviced, as needed.


Additional Responsibilities:


1. On days when the schedule allows, the van driver will assist with work around the Media
library in the capacity of Media Aide.
2. Assist other departments of Instructional Media & Technology and the Agency as
requested.
3. Develop and maintain proper and adequate records and documentation in accordance
with Agency policies and procedures.
4. Participate in projects, committees, or activities that support the mission and goals of the
Instructional Media program and Agency.
5. Participate in staff development and professional growth activities.
6. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

12. Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for diversity.


Physical Requirements:
1. High levels of bending, reaching, standing, and walking.
2. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
3. Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all equipment needed to complete
responsibilities.
4. Ability to travel between schools/sites served.
5. Continuous speaking, visual, and hearing effort.
