Relief Vet - Independent Contractor

The Sioux Falls Zoo and Aquarium (Great Plains Zoo and Butterfly House & Aquarium) invites veterinarians to join our on-call relief vet rotation. With over 200 species from leopards to jellyfish, this position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact within our community while caring for diverse species.

Expectations

• As a relief veterinarian, you will be available over the assigned weekend for any veterinary care needed for the Zoo or Butterfly House.
• Able to provide acute care for sick or injured animals.
• Be within 50 miles of the Zoo campus when on call and able to report to the zoo within 60 minutes.
• Faithfully adhere to the ethical principles of the veterinary profession.
  
  

Interested Parties Must Have

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited college of veterinary medicine or equivalent.
• Possess a license to practice veterinary medicine in the United States.
• Possess a State of South Dakota Veterinary license.
• Possess a Federal DEA license and the controlled substances registration needed in South Dakota.
  
  

This position is considered an independent contractor and shall require professional liability insurance to be carried by the relief vet.
