Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Design Engineer to join our Tillage Equipment R&D Team in Tipton, KS to bring technical aptitude in developing agricultural equipment and to bring innovation to agriculture globally.
This is an on-site position based in Tipton, KS that works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Design Engineer to join our Tillage Equipment R&D Team in Tipton, KS to bring technical aptitude in developing agricultural equipment and to bring innovation to agriculture globally.
This is an on-site position based in Tipton, KS that works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Design tillage equipment and related electronic components.
- Create detailed drawings, bill of materials, test plans, etc.
- Utilize analysis software, evaluate field testing and recommend design modifications to optimize product designs.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, and supply management to ensure product is fabricated, welded and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.
- Produce and/or evaluate design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications.
- Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require additional qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
- Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural or BioSystems Machinery Engineering, or related engineering discipline from a four-year college or university.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with PRO-E, SolidWorks, CREO or similar programs as well as FEA software, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of farming practices and equipment
- Understanding of manufacturing methods and processes
- Hydraulic and electronic integration skills a plus
